Below are some of the questions we get related to our vegetables and GMOs.
If you have additional questions, you can visit our Facebook page and post your question on our wall or send us a direct message.
Does Green Giant use GMO seed?
No. Green Giant uses only non-GMO seed to plant our vegetables.
Are Green Giant vegetables non-GMO?
Yes. Green Giant does not use any GMO seed, or source or grow any genetically modified vegetables.
What about Green Giant vegetables with sauce added? Is the sauce non-GMO?
Check the ingredients label. If you prefer products without any GMO ingredients, you may want to pass on products that contain sauces or seasonings with corn or soy. More than 90% of corn and soybeans in the U.S. are currently grown with approved biotechnology seeds, so there is a good chance ingredients like corn starch or soybean oil may contain GMOs.
Again, all Green Giant vegetables are grown without GMOs, and we have many products that also do not contain corn- or soy-based ingredients.
Does Green Giant use the new GMO sweet corn seed?
No, and we do not plan to use the new GMO sweet corn seed. We only use non-GMO seed to plant our Green Giant sweet corn.
You don’t plant your corn with GMO seed, but can you really be sure that your Green Giant corn is 100% non-GMO?
Green Giant uses only proprietary non-GMO seed in planting and growing our Green Giant sweet corn.
However, our corn crops are sometimes planted close to other corn fields. As we said above, more than 90% of corn in the U.S. is grown using approved biotechnology seeds. Due to wind and the potential for pollen to be carried on the breeze, there is some risk of cross-pollination between corn fields.
As a result, we cannot ensure that all Green Giant corn will always test 100% non-GMO. However, please know that Green Giant uses only proprietary non-GMO seed in planting and growing our Green Giant sweet corn.
